FAQ

Why does handmade soap feel different on the skin?

During the traditional soap-making process, glycerin is produced naturally as a byproduct. Glycerin is a powerful humectant, meaning it helps draw moisture to the skin to improve hydration and barrier function. While many commercial manufacturers remove this natural glycerin, we retain it in our bars through the cold-process, to ensure a gentle, non-stripping cleanse.

How should I store my soap to make it last longer?

Because our soaps retain their natural glycerin, they will attract water and can become soft if left sitting in puddles. To maximize the lifespan of your soap, always store it on a well-draining soap dish so that air can circulate around it, allowing the bar to dry completely between uses.

Is there lye (sodium hydroxide) in the finished soap?

No. All genuine solid soaps require an alkali (lye) to turn raw plant oils and butters into soap. However, during the curing process, a chemical reaction occurs where the lye and oils are entirely consumed and converted into soap and natural glycerin. By the time after its production and after a strict minimum of 100 days, when it reaches you, the lye has been fully neutralized.

Why do you list ingredients like 'Linalool' or 'Limonene' on your packaging?

These are not artificially added chemicals; they are naturally occurring components found in many plant extracts and essential oils. We declare these specific fragrance components individually on our labels to ensure consumers with documented skin sensitivities or allergies can safely navigate our product line and make informed choices.

Do your solid soaps contain synthetic preservatives?

Traditional cold-process bar soaps naturally possess a higher pH and low water activity. This structural combination creates an environment that is resistant to microbial and bacterial growth. Because of this natural stability, our solid bars do not require the addition of synthetic preservatives to remain safe for daily use.
